Can you imagine, if it never ever existed in the first place?

No Facebook! No Twitter! No Instagram! No Whatsapp! And many such other platforms.

Millennials and Gen X can imagine this predicament because we have lived in an era before social media. But for Gen Z this will be a radical concept. They were born and thrived in the social media era. But that does not mean the other age groups would not be affected. Social media has become such an integral part of our society. We need it at every step to function effectively personally or professionally.

Job markets

There are so many jobs that were generated because of the existence of social media. It has paved the way for many new job openings, opportunities for people to showcase their creative talent, a boost to budding entrepreneurs. Nowadays an entrepreneur can run its entire business successfully relying solely on the power of social media. It acts as a medium for publicity, e-commerce, and even customer care. This would not have been possible without social media

Social support & help

With social media, the common people have grabbed the power of grievance management from the hands of the companies. Earlier people felt handicapped when they were in trouble. Nowadays you just have to publish your grievance on any of the social media platforms, and help will be available to you in a matter of minutes. Whether it is a complaint against or organization, social system, or even in need of help or support from the local community.

Opportunity to showcase talent

People are creating such innovative content on social media using their creativity and unique style. This is providing a source of entertainment as well as a medium to exchange knowledge. Social media has become such a powerful tool and not limiting itself to metro or urban cities. People from tier 3 cities or even rural villages are provided with an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents, which may not happen without it.

Connecting with friends

Social media has changed the concept of friends. Back in the day, one had limited friends from school, work, etc. With social media in the picture, even a mere acknowledgment becomes your friend. People are able to connect with long-lost friends. Families who are separated from each other across time zones are able to stay in touch.

Building brand image

Companies have started to build their brand image on social media platforms. They are highly responsive on social media by addressing grievances or interacting with the target audience. Social media has empowered organizations to bridge the gap between them and their target customers. Many government agencies like local police, health care departments have become highly active on social media to ensure information needed for the public is reached to its correct audience. This helps instill trust in the company or the government agency.

So, it is difficult to imagine life without social media. It is used by corporates, government agencies, and the general public.
